Hutchens Teacher Receives PAEMST Award

Hutchens Teacher Receives PAEMST Award

Hutchens Elementary kindergarten teacher Nicole Baranov was recently recognized as one of the top math teachers in the country, as she received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching. The PAEMST is considered the highest honor bestowed by the United States government specifically for K-12 math, science and technology teachers. Baranov encourages her students to work together as leaders and problem solvers. “She’s awesome,” said kindergartner Wyatt McKee. “I just love her so much.”

Faith Academy Student Receives Female Eagle Scout Award

Congratulations to Ana Cazalas for receiving her Eagle Scout award during her Eagle Scout Ceremony at Church of the Redeemer. She is the second female in the Mobile Area Council to receive her Eagle Scout. This past summer she also received her Gold award with the Girl Scouts of America. She is a Senior at Faith Academy and is an amazing young lady. Thank you to the Church of the Redeemer for providing a home for Scouts BSA Troop 251. UMS-Wright Indoor Track & Field Teams Win Blue Maps

UMS Wright Indoor Track Field Teams Win Blue Maps

The Girls & Boys Indoor Track & Field Teams placed first and brought home Blue Maps in the 4A-5A State Competition! The win gave the Bulldogs their 16th indoor championship.Congratulations to the teams and also the individual winners!

Students at Little Flower Catholic School are learning new technology with everything from web-design and coding to app and game development in an elective taught by Mr. Nick West. Mr. West volunteers his time at Little Flower and gives students direction in the design format that interests the individual student. The students are grateful for this outstanding opportunity made available to them.

UMS Wright Middle School Drama Club presents Oliver Jr.

The Middle School Drama Club was developed years ago because of the desire of our students to perform on stage! This organization made up of students in grades 5-8 puts on two main stage productions each year. The second production of the 2021-22 school year was Oliver, Jr. With over 70 students in the cast and crew, the production was a huge success. Mr. Miller directed the production and Mrs. McMormick facilitated the music. We are so proud of Mr. Miller and the entire cast and crew on a job well done. We can’t wait to see what you perform next!

St. Pius X Students Recognize Mailman Appreciation Day

St. Pius X Catholic School Kindergartners surprised the best mailman in town, Mr. Kenny, with a big thank you card on Mailman Appreciation Day! Mr. Kenny always has a smile on his face and gives our statue of Jesus a “high-five” every time he comes to the office. Thank you, Mr. Kenny, for all you do for St. Pius X and our community!

Cottage Hill Student Performs in Carnegie Hall

Cottage Hill Christian Academy Performing Arts student, Victoria Slade, fulfilled her goal of singing at Carnegie Hall. She performed Giuseppe Giordani’s Italian aria “Caro Mio Ben.” Victoria worked diligently to prepare her piece by attending early morning and weekend rehearsals for the past several months. Victoria is cast as Queen Iduna in the Performing Arts Broadway Production of Disney’s Frozen Jr. which will take place on April 28-29. CHCA is proud of Victoria for working hard to achieve her goal and is excited she has been able to experience this fantastic opportunity.

Clark Shaw Student Wins Youth Ambassador Award

Victoria Howell, an 8th grader at Clark-Shaw, recently received an award at the 7th Annual Black Tie Awards Gala in Mobile, which was part of the 32nd Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Celebration sponsored by People United to Advance the Dream. She was one of 3 Mobile students selected for the Youth Ambassador Award. Victoria is an outstanding student and leader, and we are excited to see her recognized for her dedication and strong work ethic! She serves as a Clark-Shaw ambassador and is a member of the Science Bowl, Scholars Bowl, Book Club, Eagle Wings, Jazz Band, and is treasurer of the National Junior Honor Society. She has also placed first in the school-wide Science Fair for 2 years in a row, this year in the category of medicine and health. Congratulations, Victoria!

St. Ignatius Annual Donuts with Dad 1

St. Ignatius recently hosted our long-time event Donuts with Dad celebrating those special loved ones in our Impala’s lives. 60 dozen donuts, coffee and water were consumed and the Dads all got a special card as they walked their students to the classrooms. We love our Impala Dads!
