I saw a meme recently that said, “Mother Nature is throwing temperatures out there like Powerball numbers.” How true! Just as we were emerging from the fog of the holidays, we were treated to a beautiful winter wonderland. The first two days were magical—but by day three, I was over it. Fortunately, it wasn’t long before temperatures started warming up again, and I found myself working on my laptop outside, enjoying some beautiful spring-like weather. That, combined with working on the Summer Camp issue, has given me a full-blown case of Spring Fever.
If these sneak peeks of spring have you eager for the new season, you’re in the right place! Spring is also the time when most parents start signing their children up for summer activities—and we’ve got you covered! This month’s issue features our wildly popular Summer Camp Guide. Will this be your child’s first time attending summer camp? If so, you may be a little nervous. Even if it’s just a half-day local camp, you might be wondering: Will they have fun? Will they make friends? To help ease your mind and prepare for this new adventure, Cherie Gough shares a great list of things to consider in Happy Campers: Tips to Help Children with Their First Camp Experience.
Maybe your child is a little older, and your family is considering sleepaway camp. That decision can bring even more concerns. Is my child ready? Will they benefit from the experience? Tanni Haas, Ph.D., offers wonderful insight in her feature, 5 Great Reasons to Send Your Kids to Sleepaway Camp.
Our Annual Summer Camp Issue is always so much fun to put together. Our community is incredibly fortunate to have such a wide variety of camps and activities to help us embrace the transition from winter to spring and we are so excited to share it all with you!
Wishing you and your family a wonderful spring!
