With 21 years dedicated to education, Mrs. Marci Taylor proudly serves as the OMI Building-Based Math Coach at Indian Springs Elementary. In this role, she supports both teachers and students across all grade levels, from kindergarten through fifth grade.
“I love math because there are multiple entry points, and we all process and make sense of mathematics differently,” she shared. “Helping students and teachers discover confidence in math is what continues to inspire me every day.”
Mrs. Taylor earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Elementary Education from the University of Mobile. She later earned an Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in Elementary Education, as well as a Master of Education in Instructional Leadership (PK–12), from the University of West Alabama.
“I was inspired to become an educator because teaching has always been a part of who I am,” Mrs. Taylor explained. “My mother spent time teaching me at home, showing me the power of patience, encouragement, and helping others learn. Those early experiences shaped my passion for education and my desire to make a difference in the lives of all students.”
Mrs. Taylor’s mother has been her greatest influence throughout her teaching career. When her mother passed away in December 2025, it became a difficult season as Mrs. Taylor navigated her grief while continuing to show up for the teachers and students she serves.
“My mom taught me the importance of dedication, perseverance, and always giving my best. The commitment she showed in everything she did continues to inspire me. I strive to carry that same work ethic and continue showing up for others, even during life’s most difficult moments,” she shared.
Grateful to be nominated as the MBP Teacher of the Month, Mrs. Taylor describes the recognition as a reminder that the work she does each day for teachers and students is making a lifelong difference.
“I dare not take credit for something I didn’t do or for the journey I’ve walked on my own. I know it has been by the grace of God and through His strength that I have been carried through and continue to move forward. This recognition is a reminder that the work we do matters and that the impact we make on others is often greater than we realize.”
Marci Taylor is a career educator, wife, and mom of three, and her family also includes their beloved dog. Outside of education, she enjoys traveling, spending time with friends and family, and playing games on her phone or Nintendo Switch.
